Throughout the Middle Ages and beyond, a deceptively simple helmet design earned its place in history's pages. The Kettle Hat was favored across England by infantrymen and men at arms alike - it was quick to craft but served as an effective shield against propelled objects. Its resemblance to a cooking pot gave origin to its name: aptly dubbed 'The War Hat', this face-covering had another moniker too; named "Chapel-de-fer" (French for “hat of iron”) and was used in both World Wars 1 & 2.
