Throughout medieval times, metal and leather armor was often combined in a unique fashion that still inspires the imagination today. This gear features layers of textile or leather reinforced with metal bands riveted onto them; an evolutionary form which was mistaken for "studded" armor by Victorian historians who lacked understanding of their composition at the time.
